HCSD Beef Served at Schools
Hall County students in six of its schools took part in a historic first as they passed through the lunch line today. Students at Davis Middle School, Chestatee Academy, East Hall Middle School, North Hall Middle School, North Hall High School, and Johnson High School were served nachos with district-raised and processed beef.
“Today marks a significant milestone for the Hall County School District as many of our students eat lunch supplemented by beef raised and processed by the Hall County School District,” said Superintendent Will Schofield. “By sourcing our protein from cattle raised locally and processed at the Meat Science Center, we are not only providing our students with fresh, high-quality meals, but we are also reducing our dependence on multi-national corporations for the district’s protein supply.
Additionally, our cost is 30 to 40% lower than what we pay our normal vendors. This initiative reflects our commitment to sustainability, education, and community, and we are proud to offer our students the very best that Hall County has to offer.”
